Hi everybody,
Welcome to my Substack. I’m putting more timely projects that have no other home here. Please enjoy! And if you’re an editor, please consider this my shameless, very public request for assignments and/or employment.
Cheers!
About me:
I’m a Filipina American writer/essayist/journalist based in Brooklyn, NY. I hail from Southeastern Michigan, but I’d say my roots are in the Visayas, and Los Angeles helped to raise me. I have an MFA in Literary Reportage from NYU and a bachelor’s degree in Communications with minors in Professional Writing and Asian American Studies from UCLA.
I’m the operations director of New York City-based dance team, The Neighbors, and in Los Angeles, I spent four years on Samahang Modern, where I now serve on their Alumni Council. I secured 501(c)(3) nonprofit status for both companies.
In my free time, I stack as many side quests as I can, whether it be catering, sewing, collecting magazines, or meandering. I love Wikiracing and my favorite fun fact is the history of the word “boondocks.”
You can find me on Instagram, the ye olde web, or email me at albarann [at] pm [dot] me.
